Upcoming Workshops
PRESENTER: Edie Melson
WORKSHOP TITLE: Successful Social Media for Writers in 30 Minutes a Day
FULL WORKSHOP: CRW and HCRW Members $15; Non-Members $25
DATES: Oct. 2 - Oct. 30 (Full Workshop)
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
We live in a world where taking part in social media is no longer optional. But that’s not necessarily bad news. Those of us in the publishing industry have a leg up on everyone else when it comes to social media. We have a foundational strength that grows naturally out of what we do as we interact with an audience through the written medium. BUT, we have to be careful and learn how to work with our strengths, not against them.
I truly believe that social media will work for everyone, once we know the right path to take. I have the proven expertise to help creatives find that path—without wasting valuable time. I know the potholes that can knock us off track, and the short cuts to help us get ahead.
My two unchangeable tenants are foundational to success: Don’t spend more than 30 minutes a day on social media and NEVER make social media all about ME, ME, ME.
I help you reach your audience by introducing you to:
How to utilize a scheduling program
The basics of composing an effective social media update
How to use hashtags (and where to find the best ones)
Targeted following to increase your own reach faster
How to add value to your followers lives without adding to the online noise
When to add blogging to the mix and when to pass on it
How to evaluate which social media platforms make the most sense
